New neutral combatants, pickups and locations were added. ![]() If you leave them all enabled it'll select a number of them at random depending on world size. You can choose which NPC factions can appear under the World tab. I don't think there's a good reason to arbitrarily stop one of the Techs being available though. You can "disable" this by manually choosing your opponents and making sure nobody is using it. The possible exception is the invasion mechanic as they introduce a potential difficulty spike that may frustrate a new player. I do not recommend disabling things even if a new player though as they add great content and enrich the experience. 1) I don't know about disabling DLC on GOG as I don't use it, but you can disable most of the things that were added in DLCs while you set up your planet in the advanced tabs. ![]()
